great datexperiment #1

We will be celebrating 7 (fabulous) years of marriage on May 31st of this year. And for those who know us...you know we've been reading "relationship" books since the very beginning. So...in our ongoing effort to better our marriage we decided to "participate" in Buckhead Church's The Big 6 Great Datexperiement. Here is a little teaser for date #1. (Yes these dates began back in March, but we are behind because I just found out about it here.)

In case you get motivated to join in the fun...I don't want to spoil any of the surprises. But we had a really good time. Here we are outside of the Cheesecake Factory where we had appetizers.

All in all, we have a GREAT time anytime we are together. (We are usually happy just to have the day off together.) But we try to make our date time intentional so that we don't get to year 7 (or 8 or 9.....) and wonder who the other person is! :) So the great Datexperiment #1 was a lot of fun. We are looking forward to trying to catch up with great Datexperiment #2 this weekend.

Since we live above such amazing shopping and dinning we wanted to walk everywhere for our date. We began by eating spinich artichoke dip at the Cheescake Factory for our appitizer and tried to remember back many, many years to what we "tried to do to impress the other while dating"....this created some good laughs.  We also recalled our favorite vacations: Africa and Sailing in the BVIs.
Then we walked across the street for dinner at Brio. We both had some delicious pasta while discussing more "life issues" like "would you rather take a 1 week $5000 vacation or go on 5 different long weekends that cost $1000 each"? A LONG WEEKEND??? WHAT's THAT??
We BOTH picked 5 long weekends. Without a doubt. :)
At this point in the date you are supposed to go to a Target/Wal-Mart/Gas station and buy a $2 gift for your spouse. We ended up at Wal-Mart.... and let me just tell you...Wal-Mart might have "deep discounted-rolled back prices" but there is NOT MUCH in the store for under $2. I got Destin a big bubble blower and a card. (To express that life was fun and I loved our adventures.) He bought me a necklace charm that was green...and said that it would look pretty against my skin. :)
Finally we were off to dessert at Wendy's. Twisted Frosty--yumm! (It was the only thing that was open late!) There was a little bit more serious talk here about things you LOVED about the other person. It was sweet.
I encourage you to participate for the fun of it! :)
