Ok. Bit of a busy weekend/week. Lots of posting to catch up on. Here is the second part of our trip to Greece.
On Wednesday morning we got up REALLY early to head to the port. This is where we got on the "fast boat" to Santorini. (It still took 5 hours to get there....the "slow" boat takes about 9 hours, so we hear.) We arrived in Santorini a little after 1pm and headed to our villa. Sadly, we did not do a good job of looking up the exact name of our villa (and everything there was named villa something) and we forgot the actual name of the town. So we kept telling our cab driver that it was "that villa place" in "the town that starts with an I." Neither of those translated very well. So we first got dropped off at a villa that was not ours, nor was it even in the right town. Very sad. Fortunately, he did not leave us there, but we figured out where we were actually staying and made it to Vallais Villas in Imerovigli. Unpacked and settled in.
Then we were off for some lunch, and we found a great little pizza place. Our waiter there was hilarious...he was listening to techno music, cleaning cups, and dancing all at the same time. We had to try to control our laughter.
The next day we got up and headed down towards one of the black beaches. It was so pretty and the weather was great! Erin and I made the boys buy us chairs on the beach...and then we made them lay on the rocks. haha! We had another great dinner that night in Fira.
On Friday we rented 4 wheelers so that we could tour the island ourselves. It was such a beautiful ride! First we headed off towards the red beach. Erin said it looked like Sedona meets Greece, which was a great analogy. That night we headed toward another town on the island called Oia. We hadn't gone down there much because a lot of the reviews said it wasn't worth it. They were wrong!! We LOVED Oia! We saw a beautiful sunset, got some great pictures and had a fabulous dinner while looking out over the island! In fact, we loved it SO much that we drove back down there again for breakfast in the morning. :)
